Never be afraid to paint outside the lines

figmentia: /fɪgˈmɛnʃə/

  • (pathology) Overdeveloped mental focus on cast pewter, plastic, or resin miniature figurines. Often results in inability to control ones purchasing habits and accumulation of closets full of unpainted figures.

My name is David, and I have figmentia. I have been collecting and painting miniatures for over half of my life. I’m not sure if I’ve put in the proverbial 10,000 hours yet, but I’m probably over half way there.

I also post occasionally as “althai” in various places. Here are my CMoN and P&P artist pages: CoolMiniOrNotPutty&Paint.

  1. David;
    Your videos are great and very well done. I’ve been also collecting and painting most of my life . Mostly militery and 40K. Please keep the good work coming. I always look forward to a new video. May I as you a question what type of glue is the one you use with the brush.
    Again keek up the good work

      Mike, glad you like the site. I didn’t really understand your question. Glue with brush? I normally use superglue to assemble my miniatures, but I don’t use a brush for that—I use the little applicator tube on the superglue instead. I mostly use P3 paints these days since I don’t like the recent GW paints. Did that answer your question?

  2. Hi david, wonderful site and works, I will read it carefully, thanks!
    You have crazy skills (and dedication)!
    I’m affected by figmentia myself, unfortunately I don’t have much time to work on my beloved figs, so my painting skills aren’t as developed as I would like.
    It’s a while since I updated my minis side project, but I’m amassing ideas and materials to write on (or so I’d like to think).
    Do you have a mailing list to get notified of new posts?
    Keep up the mesmerizing work and best of luck!

    Drop me a line if u want, I’ll be happy to keep in contact and exchange some info!

  3. Where can I get the model you have in your Page-Header? =)

    Kind Regards

  4. Great tutorials, thanks David. Im still pretty new to hobby and am just starting to look at adding more depth. Can’t wait to try out your tips in colouring light and glazing.
